The world’s first wooden wireless headphones have a world-first hi-fi feature

Audio Technica’s 60th-anniversary celebrations are underway. The company has already reissued the classic Portable Sound Burger Drum and released a transparent top in the bargain. And now the world’s first pair of wood-fired wireless headphones have been launched, and they feature Hi-Fi technology not seen in any other wireless pair. Now celebrate a birthday like this!
This element is called an adjusted sound system. This gives a completely separate signal path to each earpiece, meaning that each sound channel is completely isolated from the other, without interference. This segmentation brings a clean listening experience.
This component in the wired hello their fi box has been around for a long time, yet it was never seen as a remote model. Remote models typically process computerized sound system signals with a solitary amp and a computerized to-simple converter (DAC). Still, the ATH-WB2022 highlights not one but two ESS DAC ES9038Q2M advanced two-simple converters—one for the left channel and one for the right channel.
It’s not the only audio processor that can do this. It supports the Sony High Definition LDAC codec as well as AAC and SBC. MultiPoint comes standard, allowing you to connect to multiple devices wirelessly via Bluetooth so you can go from listening to tracks on your laptop to making calls on your phone without reconnecting to switch easily.
Its battery life is nine hours. That’s well short of the industry standard of 30 hours offered by Sony’s WH-1000XM5 (which is significantly less than the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless’s 60 hours), but all that audio processing makes an impact. Is
Battery run died on you? You can continue wired listening with the included USB cable. This isn’t the case with many wireless headphones that also need juice for wired listening. And if you’re not using it, the battery will drain after five minutes of inactivity to save battery life.
Wooden earrings aren’t just for display. The housing—made from a mix of maple, walnut, and solid mahogany—absorbs sound vibrations while reducing distortion. They also use synthetic Alcantara, a durable synthetic for certain elements, which gives them a softer feel.
As you’ve probably guessed, this combination of technology and materials doesn’t come cheap. The ATH-WS 2022 will cost you £2,599.99 / $2,700 (approximately AU$4,200) when it launches next year.
